Rochester Protectives

The only volunteer company in the Rochester FD. The Protectives perform salvage, overhaul and lighting operations at fire scenes. They have their own truck quartered next to Engine 17. The Protectives' truck is driven by a paid firefighter but the rest of the crew are volunteers. Some are off-duty RFD members but most belong to other volunteer departments in the county. Sometimes referred to as the Buckets. - 1998 by David T. Stark, NF2G
